Foster Falls Elopement in Tennessee | A Simple and Intimate Wedding for an Adventurous Couple

Elopement inspiration can come from anywhere. Ashlyn just knew that she had to get married at Foster Falls when she saw the beautiful Tennessee waterfall on TikTok.

Foster Falls is a stunning waterfall located in the Fiery Gizzard State Park in Tennessee. The waterfall is 60 feet tall and cascades into a deep pool. The surrounding area is lush and green, with towering trees and moss covered rocks. The falls are located just a short drive from Chattanooga, giving plenty of options for wedding weekend activities.

Foster Falls is a beautiful and secluded spot that made the perfect location for Ashlyn & Brent’s romantic elopement. There are two trails that lead to the falls, one is long and strenuous, and the other is less than one mile. Since the couple had their closest friends and family join them for the ceremony portion of their waterfall elopement, they opted for the shorter hike.

Weather can be unpredictable in the mountains, and there is no exception for the Cumberland Plateau, as we quickly found out when it decided to rain for their entire wedding day. Ashlyn & Brent took it in stride, with smiles on their faces though.

Traveling in from Georgia with their family, the couples’ wish for their Tennessee elopement was simplicity. Their love for each other took center stage as they said their vows surrounded by the forest, in front of the stunning waterfall, with Ashlyn’s grandpa officiating.

After the ceremony, we did a few photos with family before they left us and hiked back to the parking lot, giving the couple time with me to play in the rain, climb on rocks, and get closer to the waterfall for some epic elopement photos.

I just love that Ashlyn & Brent had the courage to follow their vision for their wedding day, and turned it into an awesome adventure, even though the weather was not what they imagined when they pictured for their wedding day. Foster Falls Elopement: What You Need to Know

Getting to the falls involves a short hike on rocky, uneven terrain, so this isn’t exactly a roll-out-of-the-car-and-walk-30-feet kind of location. But you also don’t have to spend your entire wedding day hiking through the wilderness to experience it. That’s part of what makes Foster Falls such a great option for couples who want some adventure without making the entire day an expedition.

Park rules and requirements can change often, so I’ll help you navigate the logistics and make sure we’re planning your day around the current guidelines. Why Elope at Foster Falls?

Foster Falls gives you a pretty damn good backdrop for a wedding day without requiring you to spend hours on end getting there.

You can exchange vows surrounded by the forest and waterfall, explore the area together afterward and build the rest of your day around things that you actually want to do. Spend some time exploring Chattanooga, grab dinner somewhere you love, stop for a drink or add another adventure to the itinerary. Your elopement doesn’t just have to be a ceremony. The whole point is having a day that you actually get to enjoy.

If you’re planning to elope at Foster Falls, I’d recommend giving yourself more time than you think you’ll need. The hike is short, but wedding clothes and rocky trails aren’t exactly natural best friends and you’ll want time to stop, explore, and take photos to document the whole experience.
