What is an elopement wedding?
Even though Covid has made elopements more popular, there is still some misconception when it comes to the definition of an elopement. You don’t have to run away from home as young kids to elope. Gone are the days of an elopement being some hush-hush shameful thing. It’s also so much more than just going down to the courthouse and getting married in five minutes.
Elopements offer couples the chance to have an intentional, intimate experience that allows them to focus more on what the day is really about, EACH OTHER, and less on the stress of creating a day for their family and friends. But don’t worry, you can still 100% find a way to include your family and friends if that’s what is important to you! While traditions are great, eloping means that you’re totally allowed to throw away the rule book when it comes to your wedding day.
So, elopements don’t have to be a secret? Nope, only if you want it to be! Do we have to go to Las Vegas and get married by Elvis? Again, no. You don’t have to, but you certainly can if that’s the vision you have for your wedding day. You could elope in your backyard, right here in Kentucky. Or on a secluded trail near a waterfall in Tennessee. The options are limitless! Choose something that’s meaningful to you and your significant other.

Sometimes a wedding can feel like a performance for your family and friends. What if you want to write vows for your partner that the rest of the world doesn’t hear? An elopement gives you the chance to do just that. The worries and stress of all of the craziness of life melt away and it’s just you and the love of your life, looking into each other’s eyes having a truly intimate wedding experience, while you commit your lives to each other.
There’s nothing wrong with a traditional wedding, but if you’re not into working on seating charts and spending thousands of dollars on a big venue, that perfectly OK. You shouldn’t have to! Planning your elopement should be FUN, and I love nothing more than helping couples plan their perfect day.

Hey there! I’m Korey.
I’m thrilled to see that you’re considering eloping! You know what? I ditched the traditional wedding too, so I bring firsthand experience to the table, as a bride! My husband and I just weren’t feeling it with the traditional wedding planning. We love to hike, and he even proposed to me in Sedona, AZ on the top of Cathedral Rock!
We live in Western Kentucky, but decided to have a hiking elopement in Idaho in 2021. We both love everything about “out west” so that’s how we started to narrow it down, but weren’t exactly sure which state. We started looking on Pinterest and Instagram for elopement destinations, and elopement photos, and when we saw pictures of McCall, Idaho, it just FELT RIGHT. Had we ever been to Idaho before? Nope. But, we’re pretty random, and last minute road trips have kind of been our thing since we met, so it was perfectly US. We hiked to a lake in our wedding attire, built a fire because it started snowing! Exchanged vows, ate donuts and danced on a giant rock. We couldn’t be happier in our decision to elope and ditch the formal wedding!

Do we have to hike?
Not every couple that hires me is as into hiking as I am, and that’s ok! I’m here for all of your adventurous elopements.
Does it just have to be the two of us, or can our families come?
Your families are more than welcome, if that’s what you want! I will photograph intimate weddings of up to 50 guests.
I just want an hour of photography coverage for a quick courthouse elopement. Is that something you offer?
This just isn’t my style. I do what I do because I freaking LOVE getting to know my clients and documenting their story. I just don’t feel like a quick hour is enough time to do your day justice.
How long does it take to get my photos back?
My current turnaround time is 4-6 weeks.
